Frimley
Lodge Park is a 24 hectare site that was saved from
development in the mid 1980's.
The park won a design award on completion and has
been much admired for its beauty and tranquillity.
Its unspoilt natural beauty and
character continues to attract large numbers of
visitors with opportunities for families with,
woodland and lots of open space, picnic areas, two
children's playgrounds, a trim trail, miniature
railway and meadows, There is also football, rugby,
cricket a pitch and putt course.
The Basingstoke canal runs along the eastern
boundary and with lots of space, woodland,
cafeteria, miniature railway and pitch & putt
course.
Frimley Lodge park is a very attractive venue for
everyone looking for quiet recreation or organised
activity. A further attraction is the resident
warden and the Council's contractors providing
fulltime attendance.
The warden also works with
volunteers and provides a programme of educational
walks and events.
Green
Flag Award
Frimley Lodge Park has now been awarded the Green
Flag an amazing five times, which demonstrates the
excellence of this open space. Frimley Lodge Park is
just one of 253 green spaces across England and
Wales that will be flying a Green Flag throughout
2006/07.
The Green Flag recognises and encourages high
standards and it is only given to those, which meet
the highest standards, and there is a rigorous
judging process against a number of criteria's.
There are eight criteria which Green Flag Award
judges assess - a welcoming place; healthy, safe and
secure; well maintained and clean; sustainability;
conservation and heritage; community involvement;
marketing; and management.
